Ironically it was London-based Josh Palmer who, despite being an Irishman by birth, defended England’s honor in the main event of KTMMA 2: ENGLAND vs. BRAZIL on Saturday night, narrowly edging his South American challenger Joao Nogueira by way of a split-decision from the judges.

The close fight went back and forth as both sought to keep it in their area of advantage. Muay Thai man Palmer controlled the striking exchanges but couldn’t put Nogueira away, the Brazilian’s toughness and floor game making him a real handful.

UFC veteran Andre Winner found his target in the co-main event though, hitting Spanish lightweight Alejandro Ferrer with a vicious knee to the body just over one minute into their fight. The brutal blow took the fight out of the Spaniard and left him on the canvas and Winner victorious.

The event, which took place at the ILEC Conference Centre, Earls Court, London, was KTMMA’s second full-scale event, coming after successful showcase and debut full-scale cards earlier this the year.
